Super Bowl Prop Bets-
The Super Bowl is without a doubt the biggest sports spectacle in the United States, and it seems as if every year there is more and more money that is placed on the game. This Super Bowl in particular has seen an unprecedented amount of action, as Vegas has been swamped with incoming bettors.
Now betting on the potential winner is fine. Hey, you might even want to bet the over-under as well. However, if you are a complete degenerate, such as myself, or if you’re looking to add a little bit of fun into the game, you might want to test your luck just a little bit more. That’s where the prop bets come in.
Prop bets are present in almost any sporting event at any time, but they are taken to a whole ‘nother level on Super Bowl Sunday. Any possible outcome on any possible event can be bet on during the Super Bowl. So, I thought it would be fun to take a look at some of the available prop bets that are out there and see just what exactly we can blow our money on.
Will Peyton Manning announce his retirement in the postgame interview?
Yes +500 (5/1)
No -1000 (1/10)
This is an interesting one. “No” is an overwhelming favorite here, and I tend to agree, but if Manning and that spaghetti arm can somehow pull out the win, then I think he absolutely announces it. That happens to be a pretty big “if” however, and if the game plays out the way it should, (and that being a colossus victory for the Panthers) then I for see Manning making an attempt at possibly playing for one more year. If you have to bet go “no”, but the payoff is nowhere near worth it, so I would recommend staying away from this one.
How many times will “dab” or “dabbing” be said by the announcers during the broadcast?
Over 2 (EVEN, 1/1)
Under 2 (-140, 5/7)
Now this is a tough one. On one hand I could see the broadcasters playing some sort of montage of Cam dabbing and saying it a million times, but on the other hand, Sims and Nantz are so dorky and out of touch, unbelievably they may have no idea what the dab is. Actually, as I’m writing this I just remembered that earlier this year Chris Berman dabbed on Monday Night Football and it doesn’t get more old, white, and out of touch than him. So, you know what, I’m going to take the over here, and as the favorite at even money, it’s not a bad payoff either.
Will Mike Carey be wrong about a challenge?
Yes +100 (11/10)
No -150 (2/3)
This one’s a no brainer. I don’t know if I have watched a game this year in which Mike Carey was actually right about a challenge. Every time his services are needed Nantz calls him in, he gives his explanation, (which is, of course, wrong) Sims yells over him and says how he disagrees, then they wait in awkward silence while the actual refs confirm our initial beliefs and disprove Carey’s as being wrong. So if you are asking me, you without a doubt take the “yes” here and make some easy money.
Which song will Coldplay play first during the halftime show?
Adventure of a Lifetime 2/1
Viva la Vida 5/1
For this one I thought we could take a look at another staple of the Super Bowl, the halftime show. Now normally I never watch the halftime show, and of course this year is no exception. However, if you are a compulsive gambler and you need to bet on this then listen up. Now I am no Coldplay expert, but I have heard “Viva la Vida”, and my high school physics teacher would always play “Paradise” while we were working.
As for “Adventure of a Lifetime”, it is the favorite, however, I have no idea what the hell that song is. Now, I am assuming most NFL fans don’t know what it is either so maybe they won’t lead with it, at least that’s my theory. So, with that being said I say you play against the odds here and go with “Paradise” at 10/1. If I had a legit reason I would tell you, but I don’t. “Paradise” gives you the best payout so why not take it.
Heads -105 (20/21)
Tails -105 (20/21)
Will the coin toss be redone?
Will there be an earthquake during the game?
So, there you have it. Now those are just some of the potential prop bets that can be bet. So, if you are looking to make the broadcast a little more fun, or if you are just a total degenerate, these are some of the props that could be potential money makers this Super Bowl Sunday.
