While the NHL season is still a week away from starting and months away from the trade deadline, many names have made there way into the headlines.
Buff’s name has come up with several teams, most notably the Bruins whose lackluster defense was even more decimated with the loss of Seidenberg and uncertainty about Chara. The asking price for Buff would be about the same as the Bruins got for Lucic in June. A first round pick, prospect and roster player would have to go back to Winnipeg. Winnipeg is well set with organizational goaltending so none of Boston’s young goalies would entice Winnipeg.
Other teams mentioned as potential landings spots for Byfuglien have been: Anaheim, Edmonton, Ottawa and Florida

Carolina's franchise player is due to be a free agent at the end of the year, and GM Ron Francis has some interesting moves too make. I feel like Carolina is not as bad a team as many pundits think and could end up being playoff contenders. Carolina is said to be far apart with the Staal camp on a new deal. If Carolina is far out of the race, I think they will move Staal. The asking price will be largely dependent on his season and could fetch a 1st round pick and a younger roster player.
Nashville is a team that could make sense and have the young forwards the Hurricanes would covet.

Another free agent to be, who is due for a big pay raise.
Okposo would be an interesting acquisition for a growing team with cap-space. Well, the Islanders figure to be in the middle of the Metropolitan Division race, trading Okposo is an interesting deal if they know they can’t resign him. The Islanders have other proven, young top –six forwards (Lee, Strome) coming into their prime. Moving Okposo could add more young exciting talent into a team that figures to be competitive for a long time. A team like Arizona or New Jersey could give the Islanders the young talent they want and have the money to sign him. Even if he stays put I see little chance of him getting the money he wants with the Isles.
