What a season. Filled with injuries and inconsistent play, this team was full of soft players that couldn't find their indentity throughout the season. They didn't make the playoffs and they didn't deserve too.
I don't know what is next for the B's. I don't know if Chiarelli gets fired, if Julien gets fired? They trade Chara? They trade Lucic? Who knows. But I am excited to hear all of the thoughts of fans throughout the off season and I'm excited to see what happens next.
This team needs to get back to being the Big Bad Bruins. No question about it. They finished 27th in the league in fights and they have shown that no team is worried about playing them. I for one, would love to see this team go back to being tough, gritty and feared.
Obviously there is going to be some sort of huge change and I'm ok with that. Do what you have to do, but do not go out and trade guys like Marchand or Bergeron. Give Lucic one more year and let him get settled with Krejci and Pastrnak or Connolly. Get rid of Reilly Smith and that stupid contract, bring back character guys and bring back toughness.
It's really too bad that the enforcer role has been evaporated, but I'll get to that at a later date...
I hope this team isn't going to go in the direction where they become filled with soft players, hoping to adapt to the "new" NHL play. They won't be the Bruins that everyone loves.
Every Bruin's fan loves watching them man handle the Habs and other teams. Unfortunately these past two years, we havn't seen that, and I think that's because this team has struggled to find its identity.
I can only hope when management - whoever that may be next year - sits down and decides what to do with this team, they think about what the Bruins style of hockey is. Tough, mean, resilient, and willing to fight it out unti the end.
I hope that they make the right moves, fix their mistakes and build a team that can come back and make the fans happy. Build a team that can get back to playing the way the Big Bad Bruins play.
