So this is from a few months ago, but as golf season approaches it becomes even more important. Back in January, while addressing a crowd in Hilton Head, South Carolina, a major golf hub, GOP frontrunner Donald Trump warned that if "The Bern" gets elected president he will tax people so much that they won't be able to golf any more.
Trump himself is a big time golfer and boasts a handicap of 4 while owning some of the most iconic golf courses in the world. Some of his properties include, Trump National Doral, Trump National Ranchos Palos Verdes and Mar A Largo. To me, this brings about a bigger question: Is Bernie a golfer?.
He's old so that would make assume yes, however, we need to investigate this a little more carefully. Bernie is from Vermont, not exactly the golf capital of the world due to the extremely cold weather. Golf season is likely very short up there so it is unlikely that he has had much opportunity to golf.
Additionally, being in both the House and Senate, Bernie is spending most of his time in D.C working, making it even more difficult to get out for a quick 9.
Finally, we have to realize that Bernie's message does not exactly fit the traditional image of golf. Golf used to be and to a certain extent today is viewed as a sport for wealthy people. This is not true, but the image still holds true to a certain extent. It would make a lot of sense since Bernie's message is not exactly in support of that image that he would try and distance himself from golf. He's more of a baller anyways, as we all know.
