The 2016-2017 PGA Tour season resumes this week for the SBS Tournament of Champions. In other news, Tiger Woods today officially committed to play in 2 more events.
First off, Tiger will make his official season debut at the Farmer Insurance Open, which will be contested at Torrey Pines. Tiger has historically opened up at this event, and has won a record 8 times at Torrey Pines. The Big Cat grew up in Southern California, so this event always serves as a homecoming. The Farmers will be contested from January 26-29.
Next, Tiger has already announced that he will play the Genesis Open in Los Angeles from February 16-19. Tiger has not played at Riviera since 2006, but famously made his tour debut in 1992 at the course.
One week later, Woods will play in the Honda Classic. The Honda is held in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The Honda has slowly become a bigger event on tour as more marquee players have been playing it since roughly 2012. In 2012, Woods shot a final round 62 but came up a few shots short of winner Rory McIlroy (see video below).
If Tiger can make it through these 3 events healthy, then he is still making solid progress as he builds up his health and game toward making a run at the Masters in April.
