The NBA is rigged. There's little doubt in my mind that the guys with the big fancy titles have a lot to do with at least one of the Cavaliers' wins in this series. We all pretend to be outraged, and say the NBA sucks, yet we tune in every single night. So my question about the NBA rigging games is, so what?
I say there is little doubt about the NBA being rigged because there is no chance anyone would be able to prove it. Whether it's the refs giving the home team some calls, or it's a team's best defensive player getting suspended, the NBA knows how to strengthen its product. From a business standpoint, they should continue to do whatever it is they're doing.
Other than Cavaliers fans, most people would agree that the Warriors are the clear cut favorites in this series. After the first 2 games, a lot of people had already written off the Cavaliers, saying it would be a 4 game series. Yet, the series is 3-2 and Cleveland has the momentum heading back home for game 6.
One of the bigger story lines has been the 1 game suspension of Draymond Green. Whether or not you think it was deserved, his absence played a huge role in game 5. Now, heading into game 6, we have a nice little player rivalry to watch between Lebron and Draymond. And once again, people will be watching.
After last night's game, Cavaliers fans are pumping their chests saying that Lebron and Kyrie have what it takes to win, while the Warriors faithful maintain they can't get it done with Green on the floor. My point being that even with the Penguins winning the Stanley Cup just a day before, the entire nation is discussing the NBA.
No one in their right mind would claim that the NHL is rigged. Even with the Kings and Blackhawks sharing the cup over the last few seasons, the NHL remains competitive and fair, but miles behind in the ratings. As long as you get into the playoffs, you can win the Stanley Cup. The same cannot be said for the NBA.
It is well known that there are only 4, maybe 5 teams that have the talent to win the NBA finals during any given season. As expected, the Cleveland vs Golden State matchup in the Finals came as a surprise to no one. On the other hand, not many people had the Sharks vs Penguins in the Stanley Cup.
I understand that hockey is still miles behind the other 3 major sports, but if people want real competition and fair play, why is that? The truth is that people do no not care that the NBA is rigged, it's just another thing to complain about when things don't go their way.
Lebron dropped 40? "It's because the NBA is rigged and suspended Green". The Warriors came back from 3-1 to beat OKC? "They just want the Cavs/Warriors rematch for the ratings...rigged"
If you're really upset at the fact that the NBA is doing all they can to give you the best product, then watch hockey. There's a reason that Draymond Green being suspended is bigger news than the Penguins winning the Stanley Cup, and that reason is the NBA knows what it's doing.
