So, for those who have not heard, recently an OTL report came out that Louisville’s basketball team was involved in a scandal from 2010-2014, in which escorts/strippers (whatever you want to call them), were brought into an on-campus dorm to “entertain” recruits. There are allegations that there was activity reminiscent of what happened with the Lamar Odom scandal last week minus the herbal Viagra and no one was in a coma as far as I know. Head coach Rick Pitino claims to not have had any knowledge of this whatsoever (doubtful). Interestingly enough, two Celtics rookies, Terry Rozier and Jordan Mickey were two of the names implicated in the scandal (Danny sure knows how to pick em!). So my question is this: Why the hell did whoever set this up feel it was necessary to do this in order to get kids to come and play for Louisville?
They have always had a strong basketball program. That alone should sell itself. I understand some of the teammates taking some of the recruits out to a bar, party or nightclub, but this is just whack. It’s also no guarantee that setting up these players with escorts is going to guarantee that they actually attend the school. They could easily partake in these “activities” and then simply go home and choose to play somewhere else. So I guess it comes down to why would a top-level basketball program go through all this trouble in order to try and persuade recruits to play for them when it wasn’t even a guarantee. My conclusion is that whoever set this up, (the alleged set up man is ex-assistant coach Andre McGee) is an absolute weirdo and has a messed up personal life to say the least. To end on a positive note I’m sure all the parents paying tuition at Louisville for on-campus housing are absolutely thrilled that the facilities were being put to good use.
