I know I addressed this issue in an article already, but I have thought more about this issue and wanted to approach it from a slightly different angle.
Putting aside whether or not Russia actually hacked the DNC and John Podesta's emails, I want to look at why this story is getting so much play in the media the past few days. The mainstream media, including CNN, Washington Post, New York Times, etc. have been covering this non-stop. Additionally, the Obama administration has made it a significant priority.
However, I pose a simple question to both President Obama and the mainstream media: Why the hell does this matter to ordinary American people?
Ordinary Americans who have been struggling economically the past decade or more are barely getting by and are struggling to send their kids to college. Ordinary Americans from the rust belt states ejp have seen their jobs shipped overseas are struggling to find their place within the fabric of the American economy. People are working on minimum wage and working two or three jobs just to put food on the table.
The simple unwires is that this issue has no impact or importance on the every day lives of ordinary Americans. President-elect Trump and Bernie Sanders both tapped into what ordinary Americans really care about and the establishment on both sides of the aisle simply don't and probably will never understand.
John McCain and Lindsey Graham on the Republican side want to bring this issue to the forefront as does the Obama administration. Its a shame that none of these individuals put this much effort or energy into actually trying to solve the real issues that matter to the American people and instead are more worried about protecting the elite of Washington D.C.
As much as I disagree with Bernie Sanders' ideology, I find it refreshing that he has not gotten sucked into this story and has not discussed it at all. Because he actually does to a certain extent understand that issues like this are of no importance to the American people and have no bearing on it either. He understands that corporate and mainstream media don't actually discuss issues that matter to and effect average Americans.
Some of the elite would argue that the hacking "undermines our democracy." Van Jones of CNN said that every American should care about this issue. However, what they fail to admit is that throughout history, our country has interfered in the elections of other countries and promoted regime change. So, in a way, we are getting what we deserve if Russia did in fact hack the DNC emails.
It has also been determined by the so called "intelligence community" that this had no effect on the outcome of the election either way so it really does not effect ordinary Americans. All this issue is really about is settling a score. The DNC was hacked and the Democratic Party establishment and Republican Party establishment want a scape goat to save their own asses.
The prioritization of this issue is yet another example of why the establishment on both sides and mainstream media are completely out of touch with the American people.
