Even though this season is over for the Sox, I am already getting excited about how different their outfield is going to look next year.
With Jackie Bradley Jr. Starting to show that he can hit in the majors, I believe that they need to give him the starting right field position next year. With his defense and if he can continue hitting well, he deserves to be there.
If we manage to get rid of Hanley or if Sandoval is gone then we can move Hanley to third, left field is open for Rusney Castillo. Castillo is also showing that the more time he spends up with the big club, the better he is getting. I believe Castillo can be a huge difference maker for this team next year, if they give him the chance and let him get going.
With an outfield consisting of those three I don't know if you can ask for a better defensive skill set than those three bring. If the Sox can go out and get a true "ace", another top of the rotation guy and a major overhaul in the bullpen, I think this team will be back in contention in no time.
With having so many good young up and comers, they have lots of options. Travis Shaw has showed lots of potential and has proved he can provide a big bat. Letting him start at first, if they don't go out and get a proven guy, I think is the best option. You could also move him to third, if we happened to get rid of Sandoval and Hanley.
Even though we're still dwelling in the basement, this team is somewhat still making watching baseball games enjoyable. I can only hope Cherington can figure it out and get a better pitching staff so that this team can play to its full potential and contend once again.
