With Craig Kimbrel going down with a knee injury, the Red Sox bullpen will take another hit losing Junichi Tazawa to a right shoulder impingement.  The Ziegler trade is looking a lot more promising now for the Sox, as him and Koji will be the guys leaned on in the later innings.

In the 2016 season, Tazawa has pitched 32.1 innings with a 3.62 ERA and 37 strikeouts.  He is eligible to come off the DL on July 19th.

Red Sox have recalled pitcher William Cuevas from Pawtucket to complete the roster.  Fortunately,  last night on a conference call to announce the Drew Pomeranz trade, President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski said that the injury is not too serious and that Tazawa was even throwing long toss yesterday.

Dombrowski says Tazawa injury is not serious. Threw out to 120 feet today. Could be activated on homestand.

The Red Sox and Dave Dombrowski should be looking to add to the bullpen before the Trade Deadline, even if Craig Kimbrel can come back 100% healthy. The reliever market is incredibly deep, so the Red Sox could get a viable bullpen arm relatively cheap.
