Have people really not learned? Do we really have to talk about this again? It’s almost unfathomable at this point that this still occurs, but once again, it has happened. Jets’ defensive tackle, Sheldon Richardson, has, here it comes, guaranteed a win against the Patriots this Sunday.
It seems as though every year a different player guarantees a win against the Patriots, and every single time that player and his team end up on the losing side of the game.
However, Mr. Richardson appears to not be too big of a fan of history and believes that this time, despite everything that has ever happened before, his team will come out victorious and stick it to the Patriots in front of their home crowd.
The only problem is that Sheldon and plays for the Jets, and they’re playing, well… the Patriots. Now normally when people make these types of predictions, it doesn’t turn out that well for them. The last thing one would want to do to an already ornery Patriots team is poke the bear by ensuring a victory over them. In fact, the only thing worse that someone could do in regards to the Patriots is call out Tom Brady, but I mean surely the Jets wouldn’t be that dumb…well, they may have done just that.
Along with the comments made by Sheldon Richardson, Jets defensive back Marcus Gilchrist told USA TODAY that, “you prepare the same way you prepare for Kirk Cosuins”. Yup, he said that. Now to be fair to Gilchrist he was simply trying to say that they don’t necessarily need to change up their entire game plan from last week, and that they can’t get too caught up in who they are playing, but maybe, just maybe, he should have been just a tad bit more careful when choosing his words.
The last thing a player wants is for his words to misconstrued by an angry Tom Brady, and have the Golden Boy torch your defensive in route to a blowout.
To give the Jets credit however, their defense this year is legit, and they very well could give the Patriots their toughest task of the season. That being said I think the Pats are too smart, and overall have too much talent for the Jets to contend with.
So, despite the remarks made by Sheldon Richardson, I do not see the Jets coming into Foxboro and walking out with a win. It will be a good game, but in the end, the Patriots will edge out another close win against a good division opponent, and once again improve their record against those who guarantee wins to about 100-0.
