After a fantastic home stand, where the Boston Red Sox went 6-1, had 100 hits, scored 73 runs, and launched 12 homers, they look to keep the good times rolling on a quick three-game road trip to take on a struggling Kansas City Royals team before coming home yet again.
After a rainout of last night's matchup, Porcello and Ventura will be taking the mound tonight rather than tomorrow, when the Red Sox will be playing a doubleheader in order to get the three games in during the allotted time. The rainout was not ideal for Boston, as they are blistering hot and playing some of the best baseball in the entire MLB.
Nevertheless, the Red Sox will be sending Rick Porcello to the mound, who has been dominant since the start of this season. In his last six appearances on the rubber, Rick Porcello has given the Red Sox a quality start and a chance to win every single time. In 12 career starts in Kansas City, Porcello is 6-4 with a 4.43 ERA. While Porcello has come back to earth a little bit as of late, he is still one of the best pitchers in the Red Sox rotation and should look to pounce against a struggling Royals team.
The defending World Series champions will be sending out their ace, Yordano Ventura, to combat against the best offense in all of baseball. Ventura has been struggling to start the season, currently sitting on a 3-2 record with a 4.62 ERA. Nonetheless, Ventura was true to form in his last start on Wednesday against the Yankees, tossing six innings and allowing only three runs.
Inclement weather is expected, but it looks as if the rain will hold off just enough for the Red Sox and Royals to get this game in.
