After a blowout win last night, the Red Sox look for the clean sweep against the lowly Colorado Rockies. The Red Sox will be sending Clay Buchholz to the mound, who has been inconsistent this season, to say the least. On Friday night, Buchholz took his fourth loss of the season against the Cleveland Indians, allowing five hits, four runs, and four walks in six innings, which has now raised his ERA to 5.92. Questions have now emerged as to whether or not the Red Sox will DFA Buchholz if he continues to struggle.
The Rockies will be sending Jon Gray to the mound to go up against a powerful and deadly Red Sox lineup. While Gray does have a 6.75 ERA, he throws a heavy baseball, topping out at 97 or 98 MPH consistently. Gray also possesses a 28% strikeout rate and a wipeout slider, which could provide difficulties for the Boston Bombers. In Gray's previous three outings, he had a 1.80 ERA, but imploded last time out, allowing nine runs in 3.1 innings against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Red Sox look to further their two game lead in the American League East with a win tonight.
