After a terrible game last night for the Red Sox, the two teams will clash again in the rubber match of this series in Arlington, Texas. Temperatures are supposed to be upwards of 95 degrees, so expect to see these guys looking like they just got out of the pool. Clay Buchholz will be making his second start for the Red Sox since returning to the starting rotation. Buchholz will be pitching in his native Texas, after having a mediocre first start just a few short days ago. Buchholz gave up a home run and a double on his first two pitches against the White Sox, but settled down and gave up three runs in five innings. While this wasn't a great start, Buchholz gave the Red Sox the opportunity to win, which, at this point, is the most you can ask for from a Red Sox starter.
The Rangers will be sending Martin Perez to the mound, who is 6-4 with a 3.57 ERA on the season. Perez gave up four runs on eight hits in 5.1 innings in a no-decision against the St. Louis Cardinals last Sunday. Prior to this start, Perez had a five-game winning streak in five games, but does have a career 6.19 career ERA against the Red Sox.
