Spring Training is a time for MLB fans to get a look at some of their favorite players returning for another season and give them an opportunity to see some of the organizations most exciting prospects. While the Red Sox's farm system isn't what it once was (I'm fine taking Chris Sale for that) there are still plenty of exciting young studs who we have been keeping our eye on.
This past offseason Benintendi was awarded the title of the #1 prospect in baseball and so far has lived up to the hype, batting .295 with 14 RBI's last season, including a home run in his first postseason at bat. Right now he's batting .444 in Spring Training with 8 hits in 18 at-bats while setting Fort Myers ablaze.
If you wanna talk about someone who is lighting Fort Myers on fire, Sam Travis is the guy, currently batting .333 with 5 hits in 15 at-bats along with 6 RBI's. Travis displays a lightning quick bat with raw power and silky smooth hands at first base to go along with it. Travis will probably start the season in Triple-A but don't be surprised if he's brought up if anyone gets hurt.
Devers is currently the number one third baseman on the MLB Prospect list and while he has struggled so far in Spring Training going 1 for 11, I'm still incredibly optimistic about him as a player. He's an absolute monster at the plate when he's on and has 30+ home runs a year potential. He's by no means a gold glover but he can get the job done and when the Pablo hype train comes down to earth next year, Devers could be taking his place.
