After an ugly win yesterday, the Red Sox look to get back at it and win this series against the red-hot Toronto Blue Jays. The Red Sox will be sending Eduardo Rodriguez to the mound, who will be making his Fenway Park season debut. In his first start last outing against his former club, the Baltimore Orioles, E-Rod surrendered six hits and two runs in six innings pitched.
However, the numbers do not tell the true story. Rodriguez was fantastic to start the game, mixing his pitches and striking batters out. Unfortunately, towards the end of his outing, Rodriguez was leaving balls up in the zone and was being hit hard. Hopefully he will be able to sharpen his pitches and excel versus a fantastic Blue Jays lineup.
The Blue Jays will counter with Marco Estrada, who has been their best pitchers so far this season. Estrada comes into Fenway sporting a 3-2 record with a 2.43 ERA that rivals knuckleballer Steven Wright's 2.29. In his last start against the New York Yankees, the righty hurler went eight strong innings, giving up just three hits and striking out six. Look for him to try and build off of his strong start to the season.
