After an up-and-down performance against the Oakland Athletics where Clay Buchholz was "benched" after only throwing 86 pitches in five innings, he looks to rebound against a Houston Astros team that is fresh off a win last night.
Buchholz has had a very streaky start to the season. In seven games this season, Buchholz is 2-3 with a 5.90 ERA, Not the best considering the media and fans alike have been pounding David Price senselessly, while he only has an ERA slightly higher at 6.00. At Fenway Park this season, Clay Buchholz is 1-2 with a 5.48 ERA in four starts. If the Red Sox want to go anywhere this season, they will either need Buchholz to step up or move on from him completely.
For the Astros, they will be sending 28-year-old Collin McHugh to the mound to combat this lethal Red Sox lineup. The righty has made seven starts this season, with a 4-3 record and an ERA of 5.50. After a terrible start against the Yankees on April 6 where he allowed five runs in a third of an inning, McHugh has gone 4-2 with a 4.24 ERA.
