After last night's debacle, the Red Sox will look to put the events that transpired last night behind them and try to take the series against the Anaheim Angels at Fenway Park. The Red Sox will be looking for spot-starter Sean O'Sullivan to give them a much-needed quality outing. Earlier in the season, O'Sullivan made three appearances with the big league club, two of which were starts. In 11 starts with Pawtucket this season, O'Sullivan is 6-2 with a 2.79 ERA. That is a far cry from O'Sullivan's work in the majors, where he has a 7.94 ERA with one win.
The Angels will be sending Matt Shoemaker to the mound, who has been one of the better Anaheim pitchers so far this season. While Shoemaker is only 3-8 with a 4.12 ERA on the season, last month he was able to post a 2.14 ERA without recording a win, a feat that has not been recorded since 2002. On the season, Shoemaker is receiving an average of 2.87 runs per outing, which is the second worst in the American League.
