Clay Buchholz and the Boston Red Sox will be looking to take the series against the Anaheim Angels tonight at Fenway Park. As always with Buchholz, the Red Sox should be able to gauge the effectiveness with him after the first inning of play. Similar to Buchholz's last two starts, the Red Sox will be hoping that the first inning does not become a problem for the veteran right hander. On the season, in between the bullpen and starting rotation, Buchholz is 3-8 with a 5.90 ERA. In 12 career starts against the Angels, Buchholz is 6-4 with a 4.83 ERA.
The Angels will be sending left hander Hector Santiago to the mound to combat this lethal Red Sox lineup. After back-to-back starts in which Santiago went at least six innings while only allowing one earned run, he gave up six runs to the Oakland Athletics this past Sunday. Look for the Red Sox to be effective with the long ball, as Santiago has also relinquished 17 home runs so far this season. On the season, Santiago is 4-4 with a 5.27 ERA.
