The New England Patriots have signed running back Bishop Sankey to their practice squad, after the Titans waived him earlier this week.
The release and signing makes sense for both teams involved. The Titans have Demarco Murray as the number one running back, and Heisman winner Derrick Henry as the number two. With Lewis missing a good portion of the season, the Patriots are desperate to add some depth to the running game.
Although it is just a practice squad signing, Sankey was the first running back drafted in 2014 (54th overall) which is causing some hopeful chatter in New England.
Since his rookie season in 2014, Sankey has played in 29 games, rushed for 762 yards (3.8 yards per attempt) and 3 touchdowns.
