Per Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, running back LeGarrette Blount has re-signed with the New England Patriots.  The deal is for one year.  This deal comes only one day after the Patriots cut RB Tyler Gaffney.  Gaffney was never able to suite up for the Patriots due to injuries.

The signing of Blount comes as a low-risk, high-reward scenario for both parties.  For the Patriots, they get a fairly productive running back coming off his first trip to IR.  For Blount, he has had a lot of success with the Patriots after less than ideal stints with the Buccaneers and Steelers.  This does not come as much of a surprise to me because Blount posted a Snapchat story of himself at the Patriots facility a few weeks back.

The Patriots first acquired the 6-foot, 250 pound back from Tampa Bay in 2013 for a 7th round pick and Jeff Demps.  After a very productive 2013 season, Blount signed with the Steelers but grew unhappy about his role with the team.  After his release in November, Blount cleared waivers and re-signed with the Pats.

Blount is best remembered for his performance in the 2014 AFC Championship game versus the Colts.  He carried the pigskin 30 times for 148 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Blount was also a part of the Super Bowl 49 Championship team.
