According to Ian Rapoport the Patriots have claimed former third-round pick defensive tackle Khyri Thornton off of waivers from the Green Bay Packers.
Subsequently Mike Reiss is reporting that the Patriots have released offensive lineman Cameron Fleming in order to clear a roster sport for Thornton.
The 25-year-old Thornton was drafted by Green Bay in the 2014 draft. He was cut after one season in Green Bay. There are three years remaining on his $2.22 million rookie contract. His salary comes in at $523,000 for the 2015 season.
Fleming, who is 23, is in the second year of his $2,520,584 rookie contract. He will make $510,000 for the 2015 season.
The former fourth round pick appeared in seven games for the Patriots last season.
