Atlanta Falcons (-3.5) at New Orleans Saints
Pete: It's about time we got a good game on Thursday. I don't think we have had one since the Patriots played Pittsburgh to kick of the 2015 season. If this game was in Atlanta, where they are pumping in crowd noise left and right, I think that the Falcons win easily. However, I have faith in New Orleans. They have looked better as of late and its hard to bet against Drew Brees. Saints in a close one.
Niko: Exciting Thursday night game. After a scare against Washington last week at home, Atlanta suddenly looks very beatable. Fortunately for them, they visit Drew Brees and the Saints, whose only win this season came in overtime against the Cowboys JV Team. Atlanta covers.
Spence: Im giving this one to the Saints. They have looked pretty good lately and I think Drew Brees will have a nice performance. The Falcons are certainly not what they used to be despite their 5-0 record. I think this will be the week where they get ousted from the undefeated club.
Denver Broncos (-4) at Cleveland Browns
Pete: Again, like the Thursday Night Game, I think that home field advantage is going to be huge in this game. If this game was in Denver, the Broncos would roll. However, the Browns are just so bad. I can't tell you they are going to beat one of the better teams in the NFL. Manning will have a rough day with an INT or two, but Denver covers.
Niko: As much as I'd like to say Cleveland here, it's real tough to go against Denver the way they're playing. Equipped with probably the best defensive unit in his career, Manning does just enough against the Browns. Denver covers.
Spence: I think Denver wins here. I think if it was in Denver, then Cleveland would get crushed, but the Browns are a disaster either way so I'm giving this one to Denver for sure, even on the road by a touchdown or two.
Cincinnati Bengals (-1.5) at Buffalo Bills
Pete: This should be one of the better games this week. Cincinnati's magic should run out at some point, and I think that it will be in this game against the Bills. Andy Dalton isn't the best under pressure, to say the least, and Buffalo features one of the better defensive lines in the NFL. Expect Dalton to be under duress for a lot of this game. Bills take this one at home. #BillsMafia
Niko: Time is running out for Cincinnati. As expected, they've won their September Superbowl for the whatever year in a row. Come around Thanksgiving, as usual, things will start to unravel for Marvin Lewis and co. In this game, however, there is far too much uncertainty with Buffalo's health as key cogs Tyrod Taylor, Shady McCoy, and Karlos Williams are all questionable with injuries. Cincy will
cover in Buffalo.
Spence: Im giving this one to the Bills. I think this will be a tough game for Cinci. They are also in the undefeated club and I think on Sunday they will also be ousted from it. I think the Bills on the road is probably the toughest game they have had so far and it will show.
Kansas City Chiefs at Minnesota Vikings (-3.5)
Pete: Kind of pathetic how bad the Chiefs are right now. I expected them to be one of the better teams in the NFL this year, but with Alex Smith as your quarterback and losing one of the best backs in the NFL, Minnesota should take this game easily.
Niko: Couldn't stand Kansas City with Jamaal Charles healthy. Really can't stand them without Charles. Minny covers at home.
Spence: Remember when the Chiefs killed the Patriots Monday night last season? Wow. Things have changed. I'll give this one to Minnesota considering how awful the Chiefs are and its a road game for them.
Houston Texans (OFF) at Jacksonville Jaguars
Pete: Talk about a terrible game. Ever since the Patriots played Jacksonville, I have been watching them closely. They have the pieces to have a relatively decent team, but just can't seem to put it together. On the other side, the Texans are slowly becoming one of the worst teams in the NFL. Nevertheless, I think Houston is the lesser of two crappy teams and sneaks away with a victory on the road.
Niko: Hoyer looked solid vs. Indy last Thursday, and more importantly, Houston looked re-energized while he was under center. I think they go into Jacksonville and get an ugly W. The Hard Knocks crew needs it, or come Monday morning they'll be prepping for the offseason.
Spence: This is a game between two really bad teams. I do, however, think the Texans will be the better of the bad teams. Even though it is a road game for them I think they will sneak away with the victory. Jacksonville still has a long way to go.
Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions (-3)
Pete: I feel like I have been saying this throughout all of our roundtables, but what a terrible game with terrible teams. Detroit doesn't have an offense anymore and Chicago is a dumpster fire. I'll take the Lions just because they are at home.
Niko: Two terrible, terrible teams. I guess I'll take Detroit at home? That's exactly what Vegas was thinking with this line. Expect Calvin Johnson to have a big one.
Spence: Detroit only since they are at home. Chicago is so bad I don't see them getting a road win in Detroit. Jay Cutler is a total disaster.
Washington Redskins at New York Jets (-5)
Pete: Since dropping RGIII, the Redskins have put together a couple good performances. However, I don't think they are going to be able to keep it up against a defense like the Jets. Wait for the Jets to lose next week, as they should roll at home here.
Niko: Washington's offense is terrible. New York's defense is very legit, and is only going to get better with return of behemoth D-lineman Sheldon Richardson from his 4-game suspension. The Jets win and cover the points at home.
Spence: Im going with the Redskins here. The Jets defense is overrated, in my opinion, and I think the Redskins will shock the Jets "fan base" here with a victory.
Arizona Cardinals (-4) at Pittsburgh Steelers
Pete: As much as everyone has climbed aboard the Cardinals Hype Train, I'm still not on it. I think they are a soft team with an even softer quarterback. However, the Steelers SUCK with Michael Vick as their quarterback. Cardinals in a landslide.
Niko: If Big Ben plays, assuming he can give 90% of what he normally does, I think Pitt wins this game in a shootout. If he doesn't, Bruce Arians takes down his former employer. I'll go with Pitt because I think they have a pretty good shot to cover the points anyways.
Spence: I like the Cardinals here. If Vick plays the Steelers will get destroyed. If Big Ben plays then its a closer game, but I'm still giving it to the Cardinals.
Miami Dolphins at Tennessee Titans (-2.5)
Pete: Speaking of terrible teams, welcome Miami and Tennessee! I know that Campbell is the coach now and they could and should be playing with a chip on their shoulder, but this team just doesn't have it. They have a bunch of overpaid mediocre players that played under a terrible head coach. Now they are just a bunch of overpaid mediocre players under an inexperienced head coach. Tennessee covers.
Niko: After a blowout loss to the Jets in London before their bye, the Dolphins enter week 6 with a new coach (Dan Campbell) and newfound hope. I think they go into Tennessee, beat the Titans, and extend their season another week.
Spence: You really couldn't pay me to watch this game. I think the Miami will end up with a W here just because I think they have underperformed a ton and aren't actually as bad as they've been.
Carolina Panthers at Seattle Seahawks (-7)
Pete: To be honest, I am surprised that the line for this game is that large. While Seattle is at home and the Bandwagon 12s will be out in full force, the Panthers are undefeated and Seattle has struggled all season. I will hesitantly take the Seahawks.
Niko: First off, Seattle is not the same team that represented the NFC in the Superbowl in February. Their O-line sucks, Jimmy Graham isn't fitting in the offense, and the defense just gave up 17 in the 4th quarter against the Bengals last weekend. Secondly, while Carolina is undefeated, they've beaten the lowly Jags, Texans, Saints, and Bucs. In a low scoring slugfest, I'll take the Legion at home to cover.
Spence: I will take the Seahawks. I think "Scam Newton" will struggle here against the Legion of Boom. Especially since its a home game.
San Diego Chargers at Green Bay Packers (-9.5)
Pete: I want to pick the Chargers SO BAD. Unfortunately, after a pretty disappointing season last week, I think that Aaron Rodgers will show everyone just how bad of a man he really is. HOWEVER, I don't think it will be enough. Chargers stun the Packers at home. Boom, yeah I did it.
Niko: San Diego is fresh off losing to Michael Vick at home. Tough to go against Aaron Rodgers at Lambeau. Green Bay covers.
Spence: I am going to go with San Diego here. They have been disappointing so far this season and I think they will have a nice bounce back game against the Packers.
Baltimore Ravens (-2.5) at San Francisco 49ers
Pete: This could be another sneaky good game. Even though both teams have been drastically disappointing to start the season, San Fran and Kap found it last week and were almost able to edge out a win. I like the 49ers here at home.
Niko: Oh, how the mighty have fallen? A few years ago, this would be a primetime game and one of the top three games of the weekend. This Sunday we have two desperate teams looking for their 2nd win of the season. I'll take Baltimore, because they just can't be this bad...or at least as bad as San Fran.
Spence: I'm going with the 49ers here. The Ravens are a complete disaster and I think they are actually that bad. I want them to lose due to their probable role in Deflategate. As the great Dave Portnoy said "The Ravens were probably involved too".
New England Patriots (-7) at Indianapolis Colts
Pete: Niko and I have been talking about this game all week. We have both had crappy weeks, and all we can look forward to in the near future is this game. Patriots ROLL Indy. Not even close.
Niko: We've been #ontoindy since we embarrassed them in January. This line is a joke. The CRAZY TRAIN is coming and the Colts are on the tracks. Stay hydrated, be loud, lose yourself. DO YOUR JOB. The Pats are coming Sunday night. Got to love it. Roundtable coming this weekend for extended thoughts on this game.
Spence: This game is going to be a complete joke. The Patriots will roll over the Colts completely. This may be the biggest game of the year and expect Tom to completely go off. Hopefully Blount can have another huge game on the ground has he has historically annihilated the Colts defense.
New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles (-4)
Pete: Philly has kind of gotten into a groove in the past couple of weeks. The entire city of Philadelphia can all rest assured, they will probably win the TERRIBLE NFC East. As for this game, Eagles should roll the Giants. Another terrible team.
Niko: I think Philly has kind of sort of figured it out after dropping 39 at home against the Saints. They won't score 39 against the G-men, but they'll do enough to cover the 4 points.
Spence: Philly big time. They have looked scary good lately. Plus I am hoping that they will beat the Giants and increase the chances that the Giants don't make the playoffs. I, unfortunately, am scared of the four year rule where they have won the Super Bowl.
