Recently, many golf analysts have weighed in on who would record a victory first; Rory McIlroy or Jordan Spieth. Last week, Rors answered critics by winning the Irish open. Jordan Spieth, who has been in a small slump since his epic Masters meltdown answered critics this past week by winning at the Colonial.
Spieth started his Sunday round with 9 straight pars on the front nine. Spieth made the turn and made three straight birdies to take the lead. He gave a shot back on number 13 but rebounded with another 3 birdies on holes 16, 17, and 18. Jordan finished shooting a final round score 65, good for -17 for the tournament. He won by 3 shots over Harris English.
Spieth, who won in Texas for the first time in his career, celebrated the victory with his parents, his sister, and his girlfriend:
Next up is the Memorial Tournament, hosted by Jack Nichlaus. The tournament is held at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. Jordan Spieth has been paired with Rory McIlroy for the first two rounds, which should be very interesting to see. Tiger Woods continues to be MIA from the Tour, as he is again not expected to compete this week. His chances of returning in time for golf’s next major appear slim with the U.S. Open just 3 short weeks away.
