The Reds are one of those teams that don't really seem to have a plan. It's pretty certain they are trying to rebuild, but the founding piece seems to not exist for this team. In the last 2 seasons, the Reds have traded Aroldis Chapman, Johnny Cueto, Jay Bruce, and Brandon Phillips. And as far as a return for those guys? I'm not 100% sure they've gotten anything in return worth mentioning. Now Cincy does still have some exciting pieces: Joey Votto, of course, speedster Billy Hamilton, as well as Eugenio Suarez, but it isn't like they're in any sort of position to win any time soon.
Now if you're a Reds fan, you should at least be happy that you still have Joey Votto. Because now you have a reason to actually pay to watch these guys play. But, in my opinion, I could realistically see him being dealt by the Trade Deadline. The Reds and the city of Cincinnati love the guy, but some times you have to let someone you love go. And that's what I see with Joey Votto. He's going to be a hot commodity for some teams at the Deadline, especially ones looking to add a bat to their lineup.
Everything about this team is in shambles. Their rotation is iffy, their bullpen is horrid, and their lineup/bench is very below-average. In my opinion, this is the worst team in the MLB.
Record Prediction: 58-104
Like I said, these guys are pretty damn bad. They've got next to nothing going for them. In fact, the man who was supposed to be their future ace last year, Raisel Iglesias, is likely going to be used as a closer this year. So the Reds are currently looking at possibly having their Opening Day starter being Scott Feldman. And I'm sorry, I like Feldman, but I wouldn't even have my High School Team start the year with him on the mound.
