Well, even with the acquisition of Andrew Miller, the Indians still have questions as it gets closer to the deadline. All-Star catcher, Jonathan Lucroy, looked to be heading to the Tribe after a trade that would've sent the Brewers a package of 4 minor leaguers. Only problem was, Lucroy had to approve because the Indians were on his no-trade list.
Lucroy opted to stay with the Brew-Crew as he vetoed the deal, leaving the Indians with a hole at the catching position. Supposedly the reasoning for the veto is because he wanted the 2017 club option shredded so he could test FA waters after this season.
So unfortunately, that means the Red Sox are still in on Lucroy which makes no sense because they already have 4 catchers.
The teams still looking at Lucroy are the Red Sox, Tigers, Mets, Dodgers, and a mystery team that I believe is the Astros. Looking at that list, I can see the most likely candidate being Houston. They still have a nice farm and can give the Brewers more than the Tigers, Mets, or Dodgers can. And hopefully more than the Sox would be willing to give.
Looks like the deadline is going to add a little more suspense than in years past.
