The Patriots won 27-10 on Sunday vs. Washington, but they also suffered a big loss as Dion Lewis suffered an ACL tear in the third quarter.
This hurts more for Lewis than it does for New England, however.
Dion Lewis has been cut from the Eagles and the Browns due to injuries in the past and he really was starting to make a name for himself as a great receiving running back for the Pats. Finishing with 36 receptions and 388 yards with 2 TDs in 7 games this season. Lewis also was a force in the running game, tallying 234 yards on 49 carries and 2 TDs as New England's second running back to Legarrette Blount.
As for New England, it's the next man up as it's always been. That will likely be James White, Brandon Bolden (1 rec TD as Lewis' replacement), or Travaris Cadet via free agency.
But there is a free agent that could be next in line for New England for the rest of the season.
The free agent that comes to mind is Knowshon Moreno. Moreno killed the Pats last season for Miami and is out there looking for a job. He could fill the void as a receiving back for the rest of the year.
But it's highly unlikely the Patriots make any signings that don't have to do with the secondary. So, look for Brandon Bolden to be the guy until James White or Travaris Cadet are ready for that role.
