With each team sending rookies to make their MLB Debut during the first two games on this series, and each taking the loss, the Red Sox will stick with a rookie that's proven himself this season. Eduardo Rodriguez will toe the rubber with a 6-3 record and a 4.34 ERA in 66 IP with 56 SO. The 22 year old, 6'2", lefty features a 96 MPH fastball, a changeup that reaches a low of 83 MPH, and a working slider. During his game against the Orioles, where he lasted just 3.2 Innings, the Red Sox noticed that Rodriguez was tipping his pitches to the other team and began helping him hide them better. That was a month ago, and now the Red Sox staff is confident he's gotten a lot better at hiding his pitches, and his stats have shown it. During the last two games, Rodriguez is 1-0 with only 4 runs allowed in 12 innings pitched.
The Yankees will be sending the 35 year old veteran, CC Sabathia, to the mound. This season, Sabathia has a record of 4-8 with a 5.58 ERA in 117 IP, with 97 SO. After his last start in Texas, CC headed to the hospital after having to deal with the heat. He gave up 5 hits and 9 hits in 5+ innings in a stadium that recorded a temperature of 101 degrees Fahrenheit. CC will look to redeem himself against the Red Sox.
