Our beloved defending champs, the New England Patriots, have some question marks surrounding them this season. Some have predicted that they will miss the playoffs with their "lack of" a secondary. Many have even labeled our week two matchup with Buffalo "the defining game."
The Buffalo Bills' key subtractions on defense include Kiko Alonso (traded to PHI for Shady McCoy), Brandon Spikes (signed with NE only to be cut after getting in trouble with the law), and Da'Norris Searcy (signed with SEA). These three players were big contributors on a defense that Brady lit up last season. But Stephon Gillmore is definitely a guy who has improved into one of the most underrated DB in football. So be on the lookout for him.
Also, the Patriots are missing Brandon LaFell, who had a HUGE game against the Bills last season, Shane Vereen, Steven Ridley who suffered a season-ending knee injury in the matchup last season, Revis, Browner, and Big Vince. But these shouldn't be problems for New England.
Dion Lewis had a very impressive game against the Steelers in Week One and can be WAY better than Vereen and Ridley ever were for New England, Scott Chandler who had a 1-yard TD against PIT is hopefully going to get more involved on offense, and don't count out the Pats' young secondary.
Buffalo is sending Tyrod Taylor at the Pats and that could really benefit the secondary. Taylor won in his first start last week against the Colts but he threw under 200 yards against and, although he looked poised, might succumb to the pressure of playing a game against the GOAT. I predict he'll throw at least 2 picks.
And let's not forget about one thing, we have Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. They picked up right where they left off last season, connecting for three TDs against the Steelers. Edelman played really well too, and he's a horse. My prediction is Brady goes 25/40 for 350 yards 4 TDs and one INT. Gronk will catch two TDs as well as having 9 receptions overall and 110 yards. Edelman will have one TD with 7 receptions and 80 yards.
Final Score: Patriots 27- Bills 14
