Fox Sports host of "The Herd," Colin Cowherd is at it again. Remember back a few days ago, Cowherd came out and said that the Kansas City Chiefs need to go above and beyond to trade for Patriots backup QB, Jimmy Garoppolo? A package deal that would give the Patriots a first round pick, as well as Travis Kelce, Eric Berry, and Dontari Poe (who are FA after the year anyway).
So from one extreme to the other, Cowherd hints that the Patriots should move on from Tom Brady if the Patriots lose to the Pittsburgh Steelers this week in the AFC Championship game. Brady is coming off of his worst performance of the season, matching his regular season total with 2 picks, while completing only 47% of his passes in a 34-16 sloppy win over the Texans. A game in which the Patriots offensive line caused Tom Brady to endure an uncharacteristic amount of pressure, given the level they've played at this year.
However, we are on to Pittsburgh. A team that, despite having some nice names on it like James Harrison and Ryan Shazier, doesn't have nearly as many difference makers on their defense as Houston, if any. The Steelers aren't going to apply as much pressure, because they're not good enough. The ONLY chance they Steelers have is to out duel the Patriots offense. So if they Pats lose, it isn't going to be on Tom Brady.
Cowherd is obviously reacting to Brady's struggles last week, but let me tell you, Bill Belichick is absolutely not going to "move on" from Tom Brady if the Pats lose. We are talking about the same man that stuck with Brady after the Patriots dismal start to the 2014-15 season.
And if they were to move on, who's their QB? Jacoby Brissett?
The Patriots would be doing exactly what the Broncos did this year: go into the season with a QB issue, and have an absolutely disgusting defense (rolling with the proposed trade Cowherd mentioned before).
Cowherd is becoming the "King of Hot Takes." Brady's job is NOT at stake, mainly because Jacoby Brissett simply isn't ready to anchor this Patriots offense.
