Reports surfaced last week that the Seahawks would be willing to trade Richard Sherman if the price was right. I was surprised when I saw these reports, as I believe Sherman is the face of the Seahawks franchise. I really don’t see why the Seahawks would want to move on from him. Obviously they would be able to get top dollar for him, but he's one of the key guys on that defense. The reports did say that they would only move him if they thought the price was right.
What would this price be?
Would it be 2 first round picks, or would it be something even crazier? Honestly, I can’t really see him playing anywhere else but Seattle, however if he was to be traded, where would he be best utilized?
There are a load of teams in the NFL in need of help in the secondary. I think the Saints could make a real push for him if this Malcolm Butler deal doesn’t work out. The Saints are definitely in need of a lockdown corner. They now have 2 picks in the first round with the 11th and 32nd overall. If they packaged a couple first rounders in this year's draft, or perhaps next year's, I think the Seahawks would bite. I don’t see the Saints being a contender anytime soon, so maybe the Seahawks could get a good deal if the Saints are awful next season.
All and all I really can’t see Seattle trading Sherman. I mean, come on, it’s Richard Sherman, such a loved player in Seattle. When I think of the Seahawks, I think of Richard Sherman, one of the great members in the Legion Of Boom and a real leader in the secondary. I wouldn’t be incredibly surprised if this move happened in the coming years as he gets older, but I really don't expect it now.
