On Sunday, The Game of Thrones community was fortunate enough to experience the most action packed episode ever. The hour long segment showed some glimpses of the Danyerous Targeryan plot line. She arrived back in Mereen and the Slavers had an armada of ships attacking the city. She gets on her dragon and the three dragons easily burn down a few of the ships. The Dorthaki led by Daario Naharis, then take out the Sons of The Harpy.
Finally, Grey Worm sums it up by killing two out of the three slave masters. At this point all legitimate threats have been thwarted in Mereen. Later in the episode, Theon and Yara Greyjoy pledge allegiance to Danyerous and offer their fleet of 100 ships in exchange for her support in taking back the Iron Islands. The new pact is formed and it looks like Danyerous is ready to mount an attack on Westeros. At this point, she has all the ships from the Greyjoys and all the ships from the Slavers. They will be carrying 8000 Unsullied, 2000 Second Sons and an unspecified amount of Dorthraki (along with three dragons). In the season finale, I anticipate we will see the ships starting to sail off to Westeros.
Now, onto the main part of the episode,
Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton met face to face for the first time prior to the battle. Alongside Jon was Sansa, Davos and Tourmond. Alongside Ramsay was Smalljon Umber and Rickard Karstark. Jon was quiet, but appeared to get under Ramsay's skin a little bit by challenging him to a one on one fight to decide the battle. Ramsay, was clearly emasculated in this situation since he knows he would easily loose.
The battle itself started with Ramsay using Rickon Stark to draw out Jon Snow to try and rescue his brother. Sadly, Rickon ends up dying and Jon is left by himself exposed. Luckily, Jon ends up surviving the initial charge and ends up killing many Bolton men who are on horseback while he is on foot. Although greatly undermanned, Jon's forces are able to hang in the fight fairly well. It is hard to tell since there are arrows flying all over the place and people killing each other left and right, but that appeared to be the case.
Tourmond and the Wildlings fight hard and Davos hung back with some of the Northmen and shot arrows. However, Davos soon decides to lead the men and charge. Whats ends up happening is a huge pile up of dead bodies that look almost 10 feet high. In a scary 10 second glimpse, Jon Snow looks like he is about to get trampled, but fortunately does not. Things appear to be going okay, but then Ramsay takes his men armed with Long Shields and Spears and they surround and corner Jon's entire army. This appears to be a turn of the worst.
The Wildlings are able to find a back exit from the semi circle that Ramsay's army has created. SmallJon and some of his men try and block that exit, but Tourmond and his men fight through it. Tourmond and SmallJon face off, with Tourmond eventually winning. In what looks like a hopeless situation, Littlefinger and Sansa lead the Knights of the Vale on horseback and they completely wipe out the Bolton men with the shields and long spears. Rasmay then fleas to Winterfell, but gets chased down and Jon Snow beats the shit out of him. Finally, Sansa unleashes Ramsay's own hounds on him and they devour him alive.
Tune in for next week for the season finale!
