Overall, this has been a very exiting season of Game of Thrones. The first four episodes had a lot of action, but these past three have been more plot development that is setting up important things to happen later on. We still have three episodes left so I expect that the last three episodes will be big. The main storyline that is really heating up is the one in Kings Landing. Things continue to get more tense between the High Sparrow and Cersi Lannister and the Tyrells. The High Sparrow basically has Tommen in his back pocket as well as Queen Margery. He has gained quite a bit of power with this ability to easily manipulate the very weak Tommen. With Jamie no longer there to protect Cersi, all that Cersi has is The Mountain to protect her and we have been hearing all season that her trial-by-combat is coming up and I expect that during that point all hell will break loose.
The Jon Snow/Sansa storyline also started to gain some traction during this past episode. After not really seeing much of it for the past few weeks, we see that Jon has officially gotten the Wildlings to pledge 2,000 troops to his army. He also got about 200-300 from Northern houses, but this is still half the size of Ramsay Bolton's 5000 men. Jon and Davos plan to attack with what they have, but Sansa realizes that it isn't enough and discreetly sends out a raven to presumably Littlefinger, who probably has a couple thousand men from the Knights of the Vail. If they get Littlefinger on board it would be a game changer and really give them a solid chance to knock off Ramsay.
We have not seen much from the Danyerous Targeryan storyline much in the past few weeks, but an important plot point was made in the past episode. Theon and Yara Greyjoy have stolen the Ironborn fleet and were somewhere in a brothel and Yara told Theon that she plans to sail to Mereen and pledge her ships to Danyerous to help her conquer the seven kingdoms. Ships are the one thing that she didn't previously have so I am thinking it is likely that this will allow her to finally make her move on Westeros. With House Lannister and the entire capital in mayhem, this would be the perfect time for her to strike. She now has 8000 Unsullied, 2000 Second Sons and an unknown number of Dorthraki.
Finally, during this past episode, we got to see yet another character reappear this season. The Hound is back and it appears he is ready to go off and fight again, but this begs the question who will he be fighting for? The Lannisters would be doubtful, but its possible that he goes to Kings Landing to take on his brother, the Mountain in Cersi's trial by combat. Just a theory, but damn that would be great to see the Hound vs the Mountain fight to the death.
