This last episode of Thrones seemed to continue the trend of what has been a change of pace from the first three episodes. The pace has slowed down in order for important plot points in the more important story lines to develop. I think that this shift needed to happen since the first few episodes were very fast paced and the storyline was advanced significantly. I anticipate that the last two or three episodes will be fast paced yet again. In this past episode, the ongoing conflict between the Lannisters and the High-Sparrow came to a climax. It appeared that there was going to be a yuge battle right in the middle of Kings Landing between the Tyrell army led by Jaimie Lannister versus the High Sparrow and Lancel Lannister. Tommen has also been brainwashed by the High Sparrow and with Jamie being sent off, Cersi alone has to deal with the High Sparrow. I think that scene in Kings Landing was a preview for the kind of all-out brawl we are about to see involving Cersi and the High Sparrow.
This episode in my opinion set up a lot of interesting scenarios for the end of the season. I think the Bran plot line is going to get even better with Benjen Stark back in the game after five seasons. We will likely be seeing more flashbacks and particularly some footage of the mad king. We have heard about the Mad King for years on the show and it would be great to get an inside look into his character and what actually happened. I am also hoping that we will get an inside look into what happened in the Tower of Joy and if we will finally get to see who Jon Snow's real mother is.
I am also looking forward to one of the most underrated characters on the show, Bronn to make an appearance. Bronn is just a funny guy flat-out. He has that similar personality to Robert Baratheon that I think the show misses sometimes. Most of the characters are serious, but having characters like Tyrion and Bronn who are funny and light-hearted is nice to have on the show. Bronn will be helping his new buddy Jamie in the Riverlands take on the Black Fish. This means that we will likely be seeing more battle scenes, which I am personally a big fan of. All in all, although this episode mostly set up for future episodes, Thrones as always was a joy to watch.
