As if the Cowboys had any shot at winning before, Greg Hardy may have just killed what little chance existed. Hardy spoke to the media Tuesday, and perhaps got a little too ahead of himself and said something that he may end up regretting.
When asked about Tom Brady, Hardy responded by saying, “I love seeing Tom Brady. You seen his wife? I hope she comes to the game. I hope her sister comes to the game..."
Not the smartest thing to say about the four time Super Bowl champion’s wife. I mean, you don’t just talk about Gisele and get away with it. The last thing a player wants to do is get on Brady’s bad side, and I guess the Vegas odds makers feel the same. Since Hardy made his comments, the Patriots have gone from -8.5 to -10.
Personally I would have put the Pats somewhere around a -32.5 favorites, but I guess I’ll have to settle for the easy money at -10.
Now Brady is no stranger to being called out. Numerous players have tried, and, not surprisingly, numerous players have been dismantled in the wake that is Tom Terrific. However, what makes these comments a little more irking is the man who said them.
Hardy isn’t exactly what one would call a man of character. He is coming off of a suspension that he received after he was found guilty of assaulting and communicating threats to a female. Class act. One would think that maybe, just maybe, Hardy would want to shut his mouth and stay out of the headlines, but as it appears, that is not what he’s about.
As Hardy said, according to the Dallas Morning News, "in the last two seasons, it's been a blur…Now that I'm back, I don't reminisce. I don't look back. I need to get to progress.”
Maybe he should reminisce, because the last thing the NFL needs is for this guy to keep behaving the way he has in the past. It’s clear he has not learned a lesson, and by receiving a huge contract from the Cowboys, why would he. He’s still gets to play, he’s still getting paid, so what does he have to care about.
To put it bluntly, this guy is a scumbag. We can make all the jokes about his comments towards Gisele, but the bottom line is this guy is everything that is wrong with the NFL, but since he did serve his whopping four game suspension, that was in fact sarcastic, I guess the only way to beat him is on the field.
Let’s just hope Tom shows a little mercy, for the sake of the rest of the Dallas defense…nah, who am I kidding, he’s going to torch them. We’re coming for ya Hardy, watch out.
