On Friday, CSN reporter Jessica Moran resigned as rumors swirled of a relationship brewing between her and Red Sox skipper, John Farrell after working there since 2009. This relationship goes against the rule of "conflict of interest" because a player/staff member cannot have any intimate relationship with a person covering the team.
John Farrell, 53, and Moran, 32, haven't really come forward about this particular situation. In fact, Farrell refused to comment on his relationship with Moran. However, Farrell was willing to say that he and his wife, Sue, are currently in the process of getting a divorce after 30 years of marriage and having 3 children together.
With the word of Farrell's divorce coming out the same day as the rumors swirling about he and Jessica Moran having a relationship, it seems like Moran is what came between Farrell and his wife. Farrell did say that he and Sue have been separated for most of the past two seasons, Sue Farrell has rarely been spotted at Fenway (although who could blame her?) for the past two years, and wasn't even with the Sox manager when he announced that he was diagnosed with Stage 1 Lymphoma last August.
Despite their separation being two years long, another question regarding Jessica Moran comes out, how long have they been seeing each other? That question remains unanswered and will probably stay that way for the next few days or so.
If, for some reason, John Farrell was not already on thin-ice, he sure is now. After a World Series Championship back in his first season as Sox manager, Farrell has led Boston to two consecutive last place finishes in the AL East, leading to 2016 being Farrell's make or break season as manager and the last thing HE needed was bad publicity.
The last thing the Sox needed heading into 2016 was a distraction, but they certainly have one now. But the Red Sox could go two ways with this, they could either defend the 53-year-old and say "It's his personal life. Mind your business." or they could fire him. I wouldn't be surprised either way.
