With the newly adopted trend of star CFB players sitting out their last games in their collegiate careers, a lot can and will be brought up about these players' decisions.
I'm gonna start with my former favorite player Leonard Fournette. Fournette proved to many people that he was worth the hype of the number 1 overall recruit coming out of high school with two stellar seasons under his belt in Death Valley. However, this year he has been riddled with injuries and has struggled to stay on the field, which lead to him deciding to skip his senior year and enter the NFL draft.
Now I fully understand that the NCAA uses their "Student-Atheletes" as money machines but I'm not mad at Fournette's decision because of the money. I'm mad becauase it is about pride. He chose to go to LSU and be the glorifed god that he was and that comes with alot of pressure. I get it, but when you have 1 game left in your college career, you need to play it if you have the chance.
People would kill for the oppurtunity to run out of the tunnel in the purple and gold but Leonard is taking it for granted. There are a lot of players who are seniors on the LSU Tigers roster who will never play football again and Fournette decided that he was going to put himself before his teammates and miss the Citrus Bowl and skip out on one last time to suit up as a Tiger. Fournette has tarnished his image as just a kid from the Bayou and now has shown fans and players alike who he truly is as a person.
As a total fan-boy for him, I couldn't be more disappointed.
Christian McCaffery is not as close to home as Fournette but their situations are incredibly similar. McCaffery is a phenomenal back who is the definition of an all-purpose runner. I personally think he should of won the Heisman last year but I'm biased and hate 'Bama. Now McCaffery was the entire Stanford offense. He was that good but you're going to try and tell me that playing in your final college game is going to be the difference in somebody being a first and second round pick?
Let me answer that for you, NO.
These guys who skip out on the bowl games need to stop taking for granted an amazing oppurtunity that hundreds of thousands of people that get up every Saturday to tailgate and cheer for them would die for.
College players like Fournette and McCaffery are why I truly despise the NCAA.
