Simply put, the Celtics are playing amazing basketball. Over the past 10 games they have won 9 of those 10 games. Most notably the Cavs win was huge, but they also beat the Bulls, Magic, Wizards, Pistons and Knicks who are all vying in the East for a playoff spot.
One of the most notable things to come out of this winning streak has been the re-emergence of Tyler Zeller in the rotation. The dude can flat out play. His mid-range 16-20 foot jumper is money and he can rebound as well as anyone on the team. I see this as an indicator that the team could be looking to move Sullinger or Amir Johnson soon enough. There is no reason Zeller cannot play a more important role on this team, or at least stay in the rotation this time around.
Another player I love to suggest trading has actually been playing very well over this win streak; Evan Turner. Turner has simply been a ball-dominant guard who hits his mid-range shots consistently, racks up solid rebounds and can still facilitate very well. Hopefully this good play continues as his trade stock continues to rise, however at this point maybe if it is best for Ainge to hang onto Turner considering how much he has helped this team. One reason Turner has been so productive is the fact that Marcus Smart is not ready to run the second unit himself. Smart plays off the ball while Turner runs the offense. Until Smart is ready, Turner may be necessary to keep around.
I am a firm believer in Jae Crowder as a 4. The perfect trade for this team in my eyes would be to let go of Sullinger and Evan Turner for a very good wing player, while playing more small ball. I am not opposed to starting Crowder at the 4 with possibly Amir Johnson or Tyler Zeller and letting Olynyk come off the bench in a 6th man type role. This would lead player X to be the 3, Bradley at the 2 and Isaiah at the 1. I do not think it happens because why change things right now the way they are rolling? Hopefully by playoff time Stevens realizes Crowder at the 4 gives him the best possible lineup.
Boston has 2 more games before the All Star Break between the Milwaukee Bucks and Clippers. Doc and Pierce return to the Garden in what should be a very good game before the break. Hopefully the Celtics can keep the streak alive and come out of the All Star Break extra motivated.
