Without exaggeration, this may be the most important offseason in Celtics history. With the likes of Al Horford and Kevin Durant available via free agency, the Celtics could look to woo a free agent to Boston with their absurd amount of cap space. Additionally, the Celtics hold the Brooklyn Nets' draft pick for the upcoming NBA Draft, which was obtained in the trade that sent Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to Brooklyn.
With the third worst record in the NBA at 21-61, the Celtics (via the Nets) have a 15.6% chance of landing the #1 pick and a 46.9% chance of landing in the top 3. With the NBA Draft Lottery Selection scheduled for next Tuesday, the Celtics will learn their fate as to if they will be selecting a player or be looking to trade the draft pick.
Some players that come to mind that could interest the Celtics are Ben Simmons, Brandon Ingram and Buddy Hield. If the Celtics land outside of the top 3, they could look to trade the pick and land a player like Demarcus Cousins or Jimmy Butler.
Nonetheless, in the upcoming days, we will be highlighting some of the top players in the NBA Draft that could find themselves in green next season. Historically, the Celtics have always been screwed in the draft, but could this year be different?
