The Patriots have traded defensive end Chandler Jones to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for G Jonathan Cooper and a 2nd round pick. ESPN was first to break the story. The Cardinals pick up a pass rusher to bolster their top tier defensive while the Patriots get some much needed salary cap relief. The Patriots also pick up a second round draft pick (Pick #61). New England is already without their first round pick.
Jones made headlines in January for an indecent at his house where he had a bad reaction to synthetic marijuana. Jonathan Cooper was a top 10 2013 draft pick out of North Carolina. He has struggled at times but has a lot of upside. It is also worth noting that the Patriots addition of Dante Scarnecchia could potentially help in fixing Cooper's inconsistency. The Patriots are now stacked at guard between Cooper, Shaq Mason, Tre Jackson, and Josh Kline.
