For a good portion of the NFL offseason, one wide receiver that many in the New England media had pegged as a good fit for the Patriots was Rishard Matthews, formerly of the Dolphins. But as this (along with every other free agency period in recent memory) offseason has shown us, anything is possible. Per Paul Kuharsky of ESPN, Rishard Matthews has agreed to a three-year deal with the Tennessee Titans.
This comes after a tweet from Mike Giardi of CSNNE.com only a few hours before saying that the Patriots were 'optimistic' in getting a deal done with Matthews.
Matthews posted a career high in receiving stats across the board this past season with 43 receptions, 662 yards & four touchdowns.
Some wide receivers that the Patriots could still be in the hunt for are Anquan Boldin, Jermaine Kearse and Mohamed Sanu.
