Some Patriots and Boston fans in general have noticed that one member of the media in particular has been very critical of Tom Brady and the Patriots during Deflategate: Former quarterback and ESPN analyst Mark Burnell. He has been especially critical of Brady and has been attacking Brady on a personal level specifically discussing his integrity and legacy.
Unless he somehow knows something everyone else doesn’t (doubtful), he is completely speculating and has no factual basis for his accusations. In fact, it greatly lowers Mark Burnell’s credibility due to the fact that Brady throughout his career has carried himself with integrity and has overall been a great role model in a league that has had quite a bit of controversy in off the field issues.
Mark Burnell himself had a very lackluster career to say the least. He had a few seasons where he had twenty touchdowns, but his highest passer rating was never above 90, which pales in comparison to Brady. Most of his career was played on some pretty bad Jacksonville teams.
He managed to win a Super Bowl with the Saints in 2009, contributing at about the same level as Brian Scalabrine did for the Celtics in the 2008 Championship. Finally, back in January he actually cried on national television while exclaiming that Brady was lying. Whatever becomes the outcome of Deflategate, Patriots fans need to worry about Mark Burnell; he’s a complete idiot and is not remotely close to being qualified to be an ESPN analyst.
