What a weekend for the Bruins.
I was lucky enough to be at the game at the Joe in Detroit to watch Tuukka stand on his head and basically win it for them. They came out and were completely outplayed for two periods but thankfully somehow managed to muster up a few goals to tie it and then Trots put in the game winner for his first NHL goal.
Needless to say, the Detroit fans were not happy. Dropping the 2-0 lead, and a loud chirpy Bruins fan laying it to them wasn't making them happy. Instead I was reminded by some juice head about where I was. Apparently they hate being told to "relax, bud. It's a hockey game." Another fan was not impressed by my actions either as I jumped up to cheer after Loui scored the tying goal, with a full beer in hand. The beer wasn't full after I sat back down. He didn't look like he enjoyed having beer spilled on him, and luckily I didn't get knocked out. After mending some fences there, Trots scored the game winner, as high fives were thrown around between Bruins fans, I looked around and took in all the sadness on the faces of the Wings fans. It was excellent. There was no need to chirp at that point. The looks said it all and was more enjoyable then if I were to say anything.
Brett Connolly finished his Bruins debute with two assists and 12:44 of ice time. I thought he came out flying, and loved his game. I'm very excited to see what this kid has.
I got out of there without getting knocked out, and got on the bus back over the Boarder to Windsor. Huge win - check, two points - check, pissed off fans - check. Great night - check.
Now for the game last night.
Marchand had the game winner but somehow Gardniers stick got a piece of it, but St. Patrice came through again and won it with a nifty move in the shootout. Rask had another great game and was rewarded with the win.
Chara set the tone pretty quick with a huge hit on Trevor Smith, making him see stars and leak blood. Chara also took a shot off the foot and luckily was alright and stayed in the game.
With that huge win in a shootout, we are still 3 pts ahead of Ottawa and tied with Detroit at 95 pts (wings have a game in hand), things are getting real tight and the Bruins now have a nice rest until they meet the Caps and lots can change from now until then. Hopefully the Wings and Sens lose a game or two and then we can finish this year off strong with three more wins.
- Connolly is playing great I think, lots of energy, really like his game
- the new Bergeron line with Krejci playing the wing is playing good, hopefully it can spark Marchand
- Dougie can hopefully recover in time to make it back
- Trotman is playing good and filling in where he needs to, good see him get rewarded with the game winner in Detroit infront of friends and family
