Lines accurate as of Tuesday evening 9:00PM EST*
Houston Texans (-1.5) @ New England Patriots
Niko: The Pats don’t lose at home, especially as underdogs. Jacoby, Belichick, and co. will somehow someway win this game. Death, taxes, and the Pats at Gillette.
Pete: I hate Thursday night games. They suck. They blow. The teams NEVER play well. That being said, this is going to be a tough game for the Pats, even if they were playing it on Sunday or Monday. If the Patriots are indeed without second-string, kind of first-string, whatever, quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, they will need to win this game on the back of the defense, who is poised to have a breakout game after playing like crap in the second halves of their first two games. And I think they will do just that.
Jordan: You know, I never pick a team to beat the Pats. It isn't in my blood. that being said, this is going to be a YUGE test to the heart of the Revenge Tour 2.0 Bus as Jimmy G will likely miss the game with a sprained AC Joint after taking a hit from Kiko Alonso last week. So the defense is going to have to wake up from a pathetic second half and shut the door. I say they do, Pats take this one.
Denver Broncos (+3) @ Cincinnati Bengals
Niko: One of the better games of the week, two likely AFC playoff teams. The Broncos, however, are a very different team away from Mile High. I’ll take Cincy to bounce back at home after a tough loss last week against Pitt.
Pete: In their first game on the road, I expect the Broncos to struggle. Like Niko said, they are just such a different team outside of Mile High. I expect the Broncos to snag a few turnovers, but I think Cincy has a good bounce-back game.
Jordan: I like the way Trevor Siemien has played in his first two games as an NFL starter; but this will be his first road game. I expect the opposing crowd will get under his skin and force him into making some pretty bad reads, leading to picks. Cincy bounces back and puts the first L in the Bronco record.
Oakland Raiders (+1.5) @ Tennessee Titans
Niko: The Raiders defense has been a mess, and quite frankly, that’s inexcusable. They are far too talented to be this dysfunctional. I say they figure it out just enough to beat the Titans in Tennessee. Raiders on the road.
Pete: I have picked the Titans the first two weeks of the season, but they should really be 0-2. They squeaked by a pretty bad Detroit Lions squad last week and have to face a legitimate opponent this week in the Oakland Raiders. Unless the Titans can find a way to move the ball with more effectiveness, I just don't see a way they can keep up with the Raiders offensively.
Jordan: The Raiders have been exposed on defense in each of the last two weeks; something I don't think anybody expected. The Titans have a sneaky good offense with Mariota and Murray and I see them both having really nice games. I'll take the Titans at home this week.
Arizona Cardinals (-4.5) @ Buffalo Bills
Niko: The Bills are an absolute mess. Major top to bottom organizational changes are imminent (read: the Ryans are in trouble). ‘Zona cleans up big on the road.
Pete: Tough to see a way where the Bills steal this game. Arizona is rebounding well from their Week 1 loss to the Patriots, and the Bills are quietly turning into one of the worst teams in the NFL.
Jordan: Like Niko said, the Bills are a mess, and after the way Zona bounced back against Tampa, I don't see them losing to a team like the Bills, even on the road. Cards win this one.
Baltimore Ravens (pick’em) @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Niko: Really tough to take the Jags seriously after they play a game like that. Going to roll with the battle tested Ravens in this one.
Pete: I think the Jags are going to rebound and pull of the upset. Now, I know it is a pick 'em, but does anyone really think the Jags can beat a revitalized Ravens team? The Jags simply have too much talent.
Jordan: I don't care if it was the Browns, the comeback by the Ravens was still impressive last week. I see them bouncing back against a Jags team who just got dismantled by an injury-plagued Chargers team. Flacco and the Ravens take it this week.
Cleveland Browns (+9.5) @ Miami Dolphins
Niko: It’s becoming tough not to feel bad for Cleveland, who will already be on their 3rd quarterback in as many games in the young season. I witnessed Miami’s impressive 2nd half last weekend first hand, and expect more of the same against this porous Browns’ defense. Dolphins should win big.
Pete: Lol. Phins.
Jordan: What Pete said.
Washington Redskins (+4.5) @ New York Giants
Niko: Washington is in disarray and New York’s spending spree in the offseason seems to be giving solid early returns. I’ll take the home team G-Men in a close divisional shoot out.
Pete: Sneaky Great Game Of The Week. The Redskins haven't exactly had the perfect start to their 2016 season, but, like the Jags, they have too much talent on their roster to continue to be this bad. That being said, I think the Giants roll over the Skins. They look like a potential wagon this year.
Jordan: This going to be a really entertaining football game on Sunday. Nothing like a matchup between division rivals. I'll take the Giants in this one; Eli looks really good now that he has Victor Cruz back to form a tandem with OBJ.
Detroit Lions (+7.5) @ Green Bay Packers
Niko: Jordy Nelson was supposed to “fix” Aaron Rodgers. So far, he hasn’t. This GB team looks beatable. Will they lose this week at Lambeau? No, probably not. But will they cover? Wouldn’t bet on it. I’ll roll with the Lions and the points.
Pete: Look, I don't have a problem with Aaron Rodgers. He is a hell of a quarterback and will probably be the face of the NFL when TB12 retires. However, I am so tired hearing that Rodgers is going to be the greatest quarterback of all time. He has one Super Bowl win and isn't getting any younger. Like Niko said, I expected Rodgers' binky, Jordy Nelson, to help the Green Bay Packers roll to the Super Bowl. Hopefully that doesn't happen, and I am going with the upset here. Lions.
Jordan: The Lions always play the Packers tough. If I am not mistaken, the Lions won at Lambeau last year. So for that, I'll take the upset as well. Lions win this one.
Minnesota Vikings (+7) @ Carolina Panthers
Niko: Very interesting matchup between two tough defenses and hopeful NFC contenders. I think this game is settled by a field goal either way, so I’m going to roll with the points and take the road Vikings to cover.
Pete: After losing Adrian Peterson for at least a month, I just don't see Sam Bradford leading a underwhelming Vikings team into Carolina and knocking off one of the best team's in the NFC.
Jordan: I personally think the Packers are the frontrunner to face the Pats in the Super Bowl this year, and the Vikings were able to win that one without a good performance from Adrian Peterson (now out with a meniscus tear). Jerrick McKinnon will be the number one this week, and let me tell you, he's CHEEEEESE in Madden. The dude can fly. I see him being tamed for the most part, but busting off a couple big runs en route to a Minnesota victory. Yes, with Sam Bradford.
San Francisco 49ers (+9.5) @ Seattle Seahawks
Niko: The Seahawks could have a fatal flaw: that O-line. I think Chip and co. do just enough to cover the nearly double-digit spread. I’ll roll with the 49ers and the points.
Pete: I refuse to pick the 49ers in any game this season. Screw you, Kaepernick. Seahawks.
Jordan: Rams upset the Seahawks last week; winning 9-3. So for that, I see the Seahawks erupting this week and waking up the bandwagon. Seahawks cover the spread and destroy the 49ers.
Los Angeles Rams (+5) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Niko: I like Tampa Bay to bounce back this weekend at home. LA just can’t win two big games in a row on their quest for 7-9, can they?
Pete: I just don't see the LA Rams being any good this year, especially if they stuff Jared Goff deep on their bench all season. On the opposing sidelines, Jameis Winston looks like he will be up-and-down all season, but I have faith in the sophomore this season. Bucs.
Jordan: I'm going to say the Bucs take this one. It'll be tough to do worse than what the Bucs did against Zona last week. The Rams have a stout defense, but I don't see them putting up enough points to outscore this young Tampa team.
Pittsburgh Steelers (-3.5) @ Philadelphia Eagles
Niko: Carson Wentz has game. He caught my eye week 1 against the Browns and kept it week 2 on Monday Night Football against the Bears. That being said, Big Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers is a completely different animal. Pittsburgh takes the battle for the state of PA.
Pete: Like Niko said, I like what I have seen from Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles, especially last week. That being said, Pittsburgh has solidified themselves as the second best team in the AFC. This shouldn't be a contest.
Jordan: I think the Eagles will finally remember what team they are this week. Pittsburgh is just too good to lose to Philly. I think it will be a really nice test to Carson Wentz, and I see him having a solid game; just not enough to win.
New York Jets (+3) @ Kansas City Chiefs
Niko: The Jets are the slightly better team. The Chiefs are at home. This should be a good one, but in the end, talent typically trumps all. New York gets a statement win on the road and keeps the pressure on our banged up Pats.
Pete: I am hoping the Jets are able to rack up the fantasy points because I have a touch matchup this week, but I think this is where the Jets show their true colors. They are a terrible defensive team, especially in the secondary and will be facing a tough crowd at Arrowhead. Chiefs.
Jordan: The Chiefs are sick, man. At home against the Revis Resort, I see the Chiefs rallying behind their crowd and getting a decisive victory.
San Diego Chargers (+3) @ Indianapolis Colts
Niko: Indy is not a very good football team. Luckily for them, they host a San Diego team minus their best two offensive weapons (Keenan Allen, Danny Woodhead), who have been lost for the season with injuries. I have to reluctantly go with the Colts to win their first matchup of the season.
Pete: This should be a good matchup of two of the shittier teams in the NFL. Like Niko said, the Chargers will be without two of their better offensive weapons, but the Colts just suck in general. I will pick the Chargers just to keep things interesting.
Jordan: Just because I hate the Colts, Chargers take this one.
Chicago Bears (+7) @ Dallas Cowboys
Niko: Chicago is really, really bad. To lose in that fashion on Monday night at home? Ouch. I’m going to go with the Cowboys at Jerry World in this one.
Pete: I will be the first to admit it, I thought the Bears were going to be a pretty decent team this season. That was almost as bad as my take that Mookie Betts wasn't going to have enough power. Dak Prescott and the Cowboys should easily handle the Bears this week.
Jordan: The Bears are an embarrassing team with an even more embarrassing QB unit. The Cowboys at least have a foundation set for their future. I see the Boys taking this one, but the Bears covering the 7 points.
Atlanta Falcons (+3) @ New Orleans Saints
Niko: Should be a shootout in ‘Nawlins. Don’t particularly trust either squad, but I’m going to go with the road team in the upset. Falcons and the points.
Pete: Drew Brees is still a damn good quarterback and I think the Falcons SUCK. Gotta role with the home team here and say the Saints.
Jordan: Drew Brees is an absolute monster, I hate seeing him lose (except against the Pats). The Falcons also suck. Brees and Cooks goes off, help the fantasy team, and takes this shootout.
