Bruins forward Zac Rinaldo was ejected from a Providence Bruins game for this hit on Kane Lafrachise:
In case you missed it earlier this week, he was suspended from the NHL for five games after this hit on Cedric Paquette:
(Keep in mind this all started right after Rinaldo was placed on waivers, if that matters)
According to Providence Bruins Coach Bruce Cassidy, he’s already been suspended indefinitely pending a review by the league for his hit in the AHL. My guess is he’ll get a much bigger suspension, something like 15+, given his obvious history with bad hits.
Before the start of the season I had hope for Rinaldo, thinking maybe he’ll turn his game around being on a new team and in a new environment. I mainly hoped this because I didn’t want the third round pick the Bruins traded for him to go to waste.
But then at the beginning of the year he did this this Sean Couturier:
He only received the game misconduct penalty and didn’t get a suspension for it, but the point stands that this season hasn’t been what I hoped it would be for Rinaldo. I thought he’d add to the physical prowess that the Bruins had lacked last season. Technically I guess he has, but not really in the way that we would have liked.
So with his current five-game suspension and another one pending, my suggestion is don’t expect to see Rinaldo on the ice anymore this season.
