Well it didn't take long for the Wizards to find a replacement for Randy Wittman, as they signed former Oklahoma City Thunder coach, Scott Brooks, to a 5-year, $35 million dollar contract. By doing this, the Washington Wizards have all but assured that superstar forward, Kevin Durant, will sign with his hometown team this offseason.
The Washington Wizards were falling completely out of the picture for teams most likely to land Durant, but as Durant approaches his first experience as a free agent, the Wizards go out and sign Durant's old coach.
So instead of focusing on a pivotal Game 3 against Dallas in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs, questions will once again loom about where Durant will land.
If Durant signs with any team but Washington, I'd be surprised. So, if I'm Danny Ainge, I immediately shift my focus to another player in the free agent pool, preferably Al Horford. Horford isn't the type of star that Durant is, but he does fill a hole in the post for the Celtics as they look to build off an impressive season and take the next step next year.
After Horford, Jimmy Butler in a trade with Chicago would be ideal. It would be awesome to land Horford and Butler, giving us a Big 3 of IT-Butler-Horford
Now that's fantastic.
