After seeing New England's easy schedule:
So by now, it seems as if everyone has seen the Patriots schedule for the upcoming 2016 season. With a revamped offense, another year of development for the defense, and the draft still to come, it is looking as if the Patriots will once again cruise into the playoffs and contend for a Super Bowl.
Lets take a deeper look...
There are a couple good games on the schedule (Sunday Night football at Arizona, at Pittsburgh, Seattle, Baltimore), but for the most, this should be another cakewalk for New England.
Arizona presents an interesting scenario, as they were regarded as one of the best teams in the NFL last season before faltering at the hands of the Carolina Panthers. Newly acquired, and ex-Patriot, Chandler Jones will also be playing his first game for his new team against the organization that drafted and developed him. Again, this game will come down to the play of the quarterback. Tom Brady (who won't be suspended, right?) vs. Carson Palmer should be an interesting matchup, but Big Boy Carson will have to show up against a stout Patriots defense.
Week 7 in Pittsburgh is the other game that concerns me as a Patriots fan. When healthy, Pittsburgh has one of the better offenses in the entire NFL. While their defense is not on par with New England, playing in Pittsburgh should level the playing field. However, the suspension of Martavis Bryant could present problems for Pittsburgh, as Antonio Brown can now be focused on out wide by defenders.
I am sure that there is another random game or two that could cause problems for the Patriots (most likely that last game in Miami), but it looks as if New England will go 13-3/12-4, snag the #1 seed, and threaten for yet another Super Bowl.
See you in Houston.
