In case you missed it, Sporting News compiled a list of the “40 Most Hated NFL Players of All Time: Loudmouths, Cheaters, and Criminals.” If you so choose, you can find the full list here.
I’m a day (Or 2) late, but I feel compelled to react and try to put some things into perspective for the common NFL fan. According to this journalistic brilliance, the fourth, fifth, and sixth most hated players in NFL History are as follows:
6. Ray Lewis
(In case you’re wondering, #1 is Michael Vick, but for this article, I’m going to focus on those three)
If you just spit out your martini, I don’t blame you. Let’s get this straight: sandwiched right in between the guy who beat his girlfriend to a pulp without displaying any semblance of remorse to this day, and a murderer-turned-wannabe preacher or something, is our very own Tom Brady. And people ask why Patriots fans are unreasonable.
Can we all look in the mirror right now, and ask ourselves how freaking ridiculous that is? Two low-life criminals… and the greatest player to ever lace them up (yeah, that’s player, not just quarterback, for what it’s worth). Hey, uh, word to Brady’s legal team, when you’re putting together that defamation lawsuit for next summer, here’s Exhibit A. Cheers to Tommy B climbing even higher on this list next year when he gets his fifth, one for the thumb.
Oh by the way, ladies (and gentlemen, for that matter), if you strike out at the bar or club this weekend, this may help…
