After a sweep of the New York Yankees and a successful 4-1 homestand, the Red Sox are set to begin a six-game road trip against the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees. The Red Sox are clicking on all cylinders, having won three straight, seven of eight and nine of 12. Sending their "ace" to the mound, Steven Wright has faced the Chicago White Sox once in his career, allowing two runs on six hits over seven innings and striking out eight with two walks in a July start at Fenway last year. On the season, Wright has been arguably the Red Sox's best and most consistent pitcher.
The White Sox lead the AL Central by three games, having won two straight, eight of 10 and 10 of 13, which are eerily similar numbers to the Boston Red Sox. Chris Sale, Mat Latos, and Jose Quintana are leading the White Sox pitching staff, while the Laroche-less lineup has been able to power through with the big bats of Jose Abreu and Todd Frazier.
Atop the AL East, the Red Sox have a fantastic chance to measure themselves up against one of the best teams in the American League up until this point in the early part of the season.
You can get the game on NESN and WEEI, as always.
