After a rough outing by Rick Porcello, the Boston Red Sox will be looking to right the ship as they send knuckleballer Steven Wright to the mound in the first game of the day-night doubleheader. Last time out, Wright struggled, allowing five runs in 4.1 innings. This outing snapped a streak of six games where Wright pitched at least six innings and allowed two or fewer runs. While the inclement weather is to blame, especially with Wright throwing the knuckleball, it will be interesting to see if he can have a bounce-back performance against a weak Royals lineup.
For Kansas City, they will be sending out Ian Kennedy, who hash been consistently mediocre to start the season. He tends to give up home runs (three in his last outing), but finds ways to win. In his previous outing, Kennedy allowed seven runs in 6.1 innings in a 7-3 loss to the New York Yankees. Look for the top of Boston's lineup to jump on Kennedy early, as they all struggled last night against Ventura.
